I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) working in Hermosa Beach, California. I completed my B.A in Psychology at Boston University and have a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from the California School for Professional Pschology. I am currently finishing a Doctor of Psychology program (PsyD) also at the California School for Professional Psychology.
I have lived in five different countries in Europe and Latin America and have experience working with a diverse range of people. I have trained extensively in developing cultural competence and awareness. I am LGBT affirming and have worked with clients from a variety of religious and cultural backgrounds. As a Manhattan Beach resident, I am excited to work to help improve the lives of my neighbors and community.
Due to my diverse background and extensive training, I can provide a different perspective to life’s problems. My approach to therapy is based on developing a deep emotional connection with the people in our lives, improving self-esteem, accessing inner resources to cope with difficulties and learning to have compassion for ourselves and others. Although therapy can be very helpful when we are going through a difficult time in our lives, it is an important self-care practice. Just like we attend yoga or the gym to take care of our bodies, taking care of our emotional and mental health is just as important. For me, wellness needs to be holistic, both body and mind need to be treated to truly live peaceful and fulfilling lives.
In addition to being a strong advocate for mind body wellness, I have experience working with a wide range of issues: anxiety, depression, eating disorders, relational problems, addiction, financial problems, post natal depression and anxiety, child life/ parenting, infertility, loss and life transitions. I have experience working with the elderly, children, teenagers, adults, couples and families.
I am supervised by Cathy Chambliss MFT39875.
